RoCo® is driven by our passion to bring positive change and we have demonstrated our expertise in three key areas: materials for CO2 capture; conversion of CO2 into valuable products; and ionic liquids, poly(ionic liquid)s and functional materials.

CO2 Capture

Reducing emissions is critical to combating the global climate crisis.  However, reducing emissions alone is not enough.  Comprehensive plans to remove billions of metric tons of carbon dioxide are necessary to curb the dangerous consequences of climate change.

RoCo® is a demonstrated leader in multiple approaches to carbon dioxide capture.  We focus on developing new, high-performance materials to lower the cost of capture from air and industrial sources (power plant flue gas and large emission sites).  Our areas of research and expertise include: amine solvents, membranes and sorbents for direct air capture.

We are the perfect research and development partner for companies, large and small, investing in materials for carbon capture.  Companies come to RoCo® when they want a trusted partner to design, synthesize and test new materials for carbon capture, optimize processes and de-risk critical processes.

Comprehensive carbon dioxide management plans must include cost effective methods of capture, storage and utilization (CCUS) to address climate change.  CO2 utilization can lower the net costs associated with reducing emissions and capturing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.  However, carbon dioxide utilization methods must be cost effective, yield valuable products and offer significant removal and utilization potential.

RoCo® has developed several methods of carbon dioxide utilization based on chemical conversion.  We focus on developing pathways to valuable chemical feedstocks and polymers using carbon dioxide.  Our areas of research and expertise include: streamlined processes for carbonates, polymer products and catalysts.

We serve as the premier research and development partner for companies producing feedstocks and creating high value products using carbon dioxide.

Ionic liquids were discovered over 100 years ago but it’s only been over the past 25 years that their applications have been explored.  As liquid salts, ionic liquids have found application as environmentally friendly solvents in place of hazardous, volatile organic solvents.  As “materials by design,” the structure, cations and anions of ionic liquids can be tuned giving targeted properties for applications such as electrolytes, additives and functional materials.

RoCo® scientists have decades of experience designing, synthesizing and testing ionic liquids.  In fact, a portion of our ionic liquid product portfolio can be purchased through our Products page.

Companies contract with RoCo® to understand and leverage all aspects of ionic liquids, including using our own ionic liquid products.
