1-Hexylimidazole is a heterocyclic organic compound with the chemical formula C9H16N2. Its CAS number is 33529-01-0 and its synonyms include 1-Hexyl imidazole, 1-hexyl-1H-imidazole, HexIM, and HexImH.  HexIM is a colorless to yellowish liquid with a slight amine-like odor. Like other imidazoles, it has a five-membered ring containing two nitrogen atoms at positions 1 and 3. The hexyl group is attached to the imidazole ring at position 1, which gives the compound its name. 1-Hexylimidazole has a molecular weight of 152.24 g/mol.  It is a colorless to yellow liquid with a molecular weight of 152.24 g/mol and a boiling point of 269.9°C at 760 mmHg.

It is used as an intermediate in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals. 1-Hexylimidazole has various applications in the pharmaceutical industry as a building block for active ingredients. It has been found to exhibit antifungal, antimicrobial, and antitumor properties. Additionally, it has been used as a precursor for the synthesis of potential drugs such as anti-inflammatory and anti-tuberculosis agents. In one study, 1-hexylimidazole derivatives were designed and synthesized as potential anti-fungal and anti-tumor agents. These compounds showed promising biological activity against different strains of fungi and tumor cells.

In addition to its pharmaceutical applications, 1-hexylimidazole is also used as a curing agent for epoxy resins.

It is also a precursor in the synthesis of a number of ionic liquids.
