Comprehensive carbon dioxide management plans must include cost effective methods of capture, storage and utilization to address climate change.  CO2 utilization can lower the net costs associated with reducing emissions and capturing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.  However, carbon dioxide utilization methods must be cost effective, yield valuable products and offer significant removal and utilization potential.

RoCo® has developed several methods of carbon dioxide utilization based on chemical conversion.  We focus on developing pathways to valuable chemical feedstocks and polymers using carbon dioxide.  Our areas of research and expertise include: streamlined processes for carbonates, polymer products and catalysts.

We serve as a partner for companies producing feedstocks and creating high value products using carbon dioxide.

Chemicals

Carbon dioxide can be used to produce a variety of chemicals, but not all are economically viable and scalable. Some chemical conversion processes using carbon dioxide, such as urea and polyol production, have been commercialized and are profitable.  Despite promise, much effort remains to develop effective, efficient, and scalable chemical conversions. RoCo® has developed cost-effective, carbon dioxide utilization methods to yield polymeric binders and adhesives for various applications. RoCo® has also developed efficient organic catalysts as well as direct conversion processes that eliminate costly production steps.
